Blue King BrownBlue King Brown  –  ”Stand Up.” Roots Level Records, 2006.

Every now and then, a band catches your ear with something totally fresh and inventive. This is the case with Blue King Brown, who arouses musical excitement and attentiveness from listeners. Somewhere between Bob Marley and Ozomotli exists this Australian based-group, which produces socially conscious music with with a unique high-energy groove and an Urban Roots flavor. The band, which fluctuates in size from 7 to 11 members,  has received acclaim from talented musical peers such as Carlos Santana, who referred to the band as  “the voice of the street and the band of the future.” And indeed, their most recent release “Stand Up” is a foreword-thinking musical masterwork. “Moment of Truth” draws listeners into the album, but it doesn’t end  there – it gets even better. This album full of catchy, well-written and compelling music; upbeat and infectious, every track as good as the last. ”Stand Up” is a particularly strong, soon-to-be-classic song, along with “Water.”  ”Check Your Head”  features some spectacular rhythms and lush harmonies, with their captivating front-woman Natalie putting forth good vibes and important messages for us all to groove on.

The band is on tour now in Australia, but we hope that they visit the United States soon! And according to their blog putting the finishing touches on their upcoming new release.  wholeheartedly supports Blue King Brown and so should you!

To mark the beginning of the climate change negotiations in Copenhagen, the band released “Rush” – a song that is aimed directly at all attending the COP15 summit. “Rush” speaks for the voices that are silenced throughout the streets, cities, towns and villages of the world….Hear it!
